El Ministerio de Salud confirmó que ya son 24 los casos de viruela del mono en Argentina
Según un comunicado difundido por la cartera sanitaria, “al 27 de julio se reportó un total de 24 casos, de los cuales 13 se notificaron en la Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires, 6 en la provincia de Buenos Aires, 3 en Córdoba, 1 en Mendoza, y 1 en Santa Fe”.
La totalidad de los casos que se registraron en Argentina “son de sexo masculino, con un promedio de edad de 36 años, habiendo casos con un máximo de 47 y un mínimo de 24 años“, apuntó el documento.
“Hay que trabajar con la ANLIS-Malbrán y las distintas jurisdicciones para realizar capacitaciones y entrenamientos en todo lo que se refiere a diagnóstico y laboratorio, con el objetivo de descentralizar en forma gradual y oportuna estas tareas”, dijo Vizzotti tras un encuentro con especialistas sostenido ayer para analizar la situación nacional e internacional de esta enfermedad.
“La idea de esta reunión es analizar el estado de situación actual, pensar en conjunto diferentes tipos de estrategias y escuchar recomendaciones concretas en función de la evidencia científica y nuestra situación epidemiológica”, aseguró Vizzotti.
También agregó que es fundamental la mirada de los distintos actores para “enriquecer y fortalecer nuestro plan de acción”.
Por su parte, los expertos presentes en el encuentro evaluaron la decisión de la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) de declarar a la viruela símica como una emergencia de salud pública de importancia internacional y lo diferenciaron del impacto que tuvo la pandemia provocada por el coronavirus.
Los especialistas “coincidieron en el rol acotado que presenta actualmente la vacuna contra esta enfermedad, advirtieron que no está indicada para la población en general y que hasta el momento no es una herramienta efectiva para el control de la situación”, apuntó el comunicado.
En ese sentido, informaron que continuarán monitoreando la información y la evidencia científica que se produzca relacionada con la vacuna y los posibles tratamientos.
La Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) confirmó que, hasta el 22 de julio pasado se registraron 16.016 casos, de los cuales 11.865 se notificaron en Europa; 3.772 en América; 301 en África; 21 en las regiones del Mediterráneo Oriental; 54 en el Pacífico Occidental y 3 en el Sudeste Asiático.
Según el relevamiento del organismo, se notificaron 5 muertes por esta enfermedad en la Región de África y el 99% de los casos registrados corresponde a hombres con un promedio de edad de 36 años.
Durante el encuentro entre especialistas se acordó generar estrategias para “fortalecer la vigilancia epidemiológica, trabajar junto a las jurisdicciones para la descentralización del diagnóstico, capacitar a los equipos de salud, generar acciones de información para la sociedad y continuar con las reuniones con los diferentes actores involucrados”.
Por último, se determinó que el tema será abordado en el próximo Consejo Federal de Salud (Cofesa) y se informó que hoy la ministra mantendrá un encuentro para abordar la temática con organizaciones de la sociedad civil.
Esta mañana, en el marco de una actividad por el Día Mundial de las Hepatitis Virales, Vizzotti aseguró que la viruela símica “es una emergencia sanitaria de impacto mundial, pero no es una pandemia” y enfatizó en que “es una situación diferente a la de Covid-19”.
“Es leve, tiene otra forma de transmisión menor que el Covid”, aseguró la funcionaria, y remarcó que “la mayoría (de los casos son) con antecedente de viaje. Hasta ahora no tenemos casos secundarios de convivientes o personal de salud contagiado“, concluyó.
