El acuerdo Mercosur-UE no regirá este año

La definición y puesta en marcha del acuerdo de libre comercio Mercosur-Unión Europea quedó aún más lejos, y las señales marcan que como mínimo tendrá un final en el primer  semestre de 2023, cuando la expectativa era en la segunda parte de este año.

El clima de tensión y expectativas positivas generado por las elecciones en Francia chocó con la realidad. Según fuentes de la Cancillería “por un lado, el triunfo de (Emmanuel) Macron trajo alivio y satisfacción, pero existen resistencias dentro del eurobloque; está descartado que este año se limen todas las diferencias”. Las posturas entre los miembros del Viejo Continente están dadas respecto de la deforestación del Amazonas.
El acuerdo comercial entre la Unión Europea y el Mercosur se volvió a reflotar a través de las declaraciones del embajador del bloque regional europeo, Paolo Berizzi. El diplomático está en América Latina, ya que visitó Uruguay en el marco de una disertación.

En este contexto, el italiano Berizzi se refirió al acuerdo y destacó ante la agencia EFE: “Creo que habrá avances este año y avances seguros el año próximo. Creo que si me pone la misma pregunta dentro de un año voy a ser mucho más concreto”.

Cabe recordar que este tratado se firmó en 2019 después de 20 años de negociaciones. Para que entre en vigencia, el acuerdo se debe tratar en los ámbitos legislativos de cada país involucrado.

Por otra parte, el embajador habló de que se trabaja en la exigencia de respeto de las reglas medioambientales. “Es un tema que interesa más a otros países que a Uruguay, pero es muy importante porque no es un capricho europeo, es algo que los ciudadanos europeos piden a sus Gobiernos, a sus políticos que insistan mucho en ese tema”, agregó en las declaraciones.
