Ituzaingó: liberan un gavilán mixto

El equipo de la Subsecretaría de Ambiente y Desarrollo Sostenible , del gobierno municipal de Ituzaingó, llevó adelante la liberación de un pichón de gavilán mixto (Parabuteo unicinctus) en la Reserva Natural Urbana Río Reconquista, ubicada en las delimitaciones de Martín Fierro y Camino del Buen Ayre. La liberación fue posible gracias al cuidado del equipo del Club de Observadores de Aves Pecho Colorado, quien permitió su recuperación física.

El gavilan de corta edad había sido encontrado herido en el mes de abril por Rosa Paladino, vecina de Villa Ariza, quien dio rápido aviso al Municipio, y permitió que el ave quede bajo el cuidado de Corino Griffini, Educador Ambiental integrante del Club de Observadores de Aves Pecho Colorado. Durante el período de cuidados se priorizó la rehabilitación de las lesiones en sus patas y alas, y además el desarrollo de los comportamientos típicos de la especie. Ya recuperado de sus lesiones y con la capacidad de obtener su propio alimento, el equipo encargado de sus cuidados decidió liberarlo en su hábitat natural, devolviéndolo a la fauna silvestre de nuestro distrito.

Los gavilanes son frecuentes de ver en las ciudades, así como otras especies similares como caranchos y chimangos. Son aves grandes y robustas, de la familia de las águilas y se alimentan de roedores, culebras y palomas, a las que capturan en vuelo. Cabe destacar que la presencia de estas aves rapaces no representan un peligro para la fauna doméstica como perros o gatos, y a su vez, está prohibida su captura, venta o domesticación.

En caso de encontrar un pichón en el suelo, sugerimos tomarlo con cuidado y colocarlo en una rama o lugar alto, a salvo de perros y gatos, y no alimentarlos ni darles agua. En caso de observar un ejemplar herido las y los vecinos pueden comunicarse con la Subsecretaría de Ambiente y Desarrollo Sostenible de lunes a viernes de 8 a 15hs al 5068-9308.
