En busca de la mejor empanada

Este sábado se elige en la Ciudad de Buenos Aires la mejor empanada de Argentina. La competencia, que cuenta con un representante de cada provincia, se realizará a metros del Obelisco en lo que promete ser una fiesta para celebrar una de las comidas más populares del país.

El Gobierno de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires realizará este 12 de noviembre la tercera edición de la Fiesta de la Empanada, en la que cocineros de todo el país compiten por cocinar la mejor empanada del país. El evento se realizará de 12 a 19 hs, en Diagonal Norte (Av. Roque Sáenz Peña) entre Carlos Pellegrini y Florida. Habrá más de 30 puestos gastronómicos con ofertas desde $200 donde se podrá disfrutar diferentes variedades de la tradicional comida argentina y música en vivo.

Con representación federal, cocineros y cocineras de las 23 provincias y de la Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires competirán este sábado. Para la elección de los 24 participantes se realizó una convocatoria abierta en donde personas con experiencia profesional se anotaron para participar de la competencia. La selección estuvo a cargo de Pietro Sorba, periodista y crítico gastronómico, y APYCE, la Asociación de Pizzerías y Casas de Empanadas.

“La empanada es un plato típico que refleja la identidad regional de cada provincia y también nuestra identidad federal. Es un orgullo recibir a los mejores cocineros de todo el país en la Ciudad de Buenos Aires. Los invitamos a todos a disfrutar las mejores empanadas y a elegir su favorita, para darle más impulso a nuestra gastronomía, un sector que da trabajo en todas las provincias”, expresó el jefe de Gobierno de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta.

En representación de la provincia de Buenos Aires participará Ruth Alejandra Horacio, de 55 años, vecina de la localidad de La Matanza. Ruth es oriunda de Tucumán. De ahí viene su nexo con este plato típico, cuyo ritual de preparar empanadas compartió siempre con su familia.

Hace 15 años comenzó a vender en los locales de empanadas rápidas de Liniers, al costado de la vía. Luego de que sacaran los locales decidió abrir su propio puesto, el cual tuvo que cerrar hace 6 años. Actualmente cocina a pedido para la gente del barrio.

Se especializa en empanadas de bondiola con cebolla, morrón caramelizado y con un toque de naranja.

Este sábado, un jurado de expertos en empanadas será el encargado de elegir al ganador o ganadora, quien evaluará la preparación de la masa, la preparación del relleno, el repulgue y la cocción en los dos tipos de empanadas que deberán presentar los concursantes: tradicional y vegetariana. También deberán realizar un desafío sorpresa. Serán parte del jurado Pietro Sorba, periodista y crítico gastronómico; José Luis Padilla de APYCE, María del Carmen “Chacha” Vicario, campeona de la edición 2019; Asunción del Valle Arguello, campeona de la edición digital 2020; Juan Carlos Reynoso, campeón de la última Fiesta de la Empanada de Famaillá en Tucumán; y una dupla de vecinos de Tierra del Fuego de la convocatoria federal realizada por BA Participación Ciudadana.

El Ministerio de Cultura de la Ciudad programará shows musicales que tendrán al folklore como gran protagonista. Entre ellas la banda Los Tabaleros, la flautista Laura Molinas, el grupo de percusión Banda Cafundó y el rapero Under MC. El cierre de la jornada será de la mano del cantautor Jorge Rojas.

Habrá un espacio para niños y niñas ubicado sobre Diagonal Norte entre Maipú y Florida, que contará con una plaza inflable donde podrán disfrutar de inflables y un pelotero.
